The end of the world – this is Wa Ale, one of the few resorts in the Mergui archipelago a group of 800 islands which is located at the very south tip of Myanmar. Since the tropical paradise has been closed for visitors for decades, it is now an absolutely untouched gem. The privately run Eco resort is situated in the Lampi Marine National Park, right in the centre of the sparkling turquoise Andaman Sea.
The Founders and owners Christopher and Farina Kingsley have fully dedicated their project to environmentalism and therefore initiated the Lampi Foundation in order to protect the versatile underwater world with its colourful coral reefs and sea turtles. Furthermore, Wa Ale employs more than 100 locals and is financing surrounding institutions such as schools and clinics with donations.
The eleven tented beach villas and three treetop villas at Wa Ale have almost entirely been constructed from recycled, regional materials. Natural colours, a lot of wood, and a modern atmosphere enhance the comfortable interior of the villas. Two restaurants, one fitness area, and a spa belong to Wa Ale and offer its guests a divine base to discover the surrounding jungle and underwater world.
