Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is a luxurious 120 villa resort in the Shaviyani Atoll north of Malé. Its name alone is already promising, translating to “island in secret water”. Guests have been able to explore this promise since April 2018. The 16-hectare island is located in one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives and offers beach and water villas as well as five “Tented Jungle Villas” built within the lush vegetation inside of the island for a real sense of seclusion. Based on concepts from acclaimed US-American architect’s office Hirsch Bedner, each villa displays a modern design with private pool, while materials such as wood and copper make for a contemporary style and creates a boho atmosphere. Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi features the first underwater museum in the Maldives – the Coralarium. The striking masterpiece was made possible by the British artist Jason deCaires Taylor, whose installations are located under and above water within sight of the resort. Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi joins a gently sloping nine-kilometre house reef that is perfect for snorkelling and diving.
